Our skilled team of gynecologic surgeons is dedicated to providing exceptional surgical management and care of our patients. We offer a variety of outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures. These procedures include, but are not limited to, the treatment of ovarian cysts, heavy uterine bleeding and fibroids, pelvic organ prolapse and evaluation and treatment of pelvic pain.
Outpatient Surgery
- Hysteroscopy
This procedure is used to diagnose and treat problems of the uterus. A hysteroscope is inserted through your vagina into your uterus. It transfers the image of your uterus onto a screen for evaluation. This procedure is typically used to find the cause of abnormal uterine bleeding. It can also be used for: removal of adhesions, diagnosis the cause of repeated miscarriages, locate an intrauterine device, or perform sterilization. - Endometrial Ablation
This procedure destroys a thin layer of the lining of the uterus. Menstrual bleeding is reduced to normal or lighter levels. Not all patients are candidates for an ablation. Your physician will evaluate you. The physicians of Women Partners use the Novasure System for ablations. For more information visit novasure.com. - Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation
Sterilization is permanent birth control and the most popular method. There are different methods used for tubal sterilization and this is determined by the physician. - Diagnostic Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is a way of performing surgery using small incisions or minimally invasive. This procedure may be used to look for the cause of chronic pelvic pain and infertility. - Dilation and Curettage
This procedure is used to diagnose and treat many conditions that affect the uterus and is often performed after a miscarriage. The cervix is dilated and tissue lining the uterus is removed. In most cases, the tissue is sent to pathology for evaluation. - Acessa Surgery
This procedure is a new minimally-invasive, same-day (outpatient) surgery for fibroids. It uses radiofrequency ablation to destroy the fibroids. The surrounding normal uterine tissue is not affected. For more information: (Acessa Brochure).
Inpatient Surgery
- Hysterectomy (vaginal, abdominal, laparoscopic assisted)
This procedure is performed to remove the uterus. It can be used as a treatment for many health conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, uterine prolapse, abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, and cancer. There are different methods that can be used. The appropriate method is determined by your physician after evaluation. It is sometimes necessary to change the type of hysterectomy intraoperatively.
Robotic Surgery
We are pleased to offer the latest minimally-invasive surgical technique – Robotic Assisted Surgery utilizing the da Vinci Surgical System. The da Vinci Surgical System is a computer-enhanced system that allows the surgeon’s hands to communicate with the tips of the instruments. The system is able to replicate the surgeon’s movements in real time.
da Vinci Surgical System
The da Vinci surgical system can be used for the following (for a complete list, please visit the da Vinci website):
- Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus)
- Treatment of endometriosis, pelvic pain or scar tissue
- Uterine fibroids
- Ovarian cysts or masses
There are many benefits of the robotic surgery including: shorter hospital stay, faster recovery, less blood loss and post-operative pain and fewer complications.
